Haunted Hustle 5k, Fun Run, and Witches on Wheels Ride

The City of Gulf Shores is excited to announce the return of Haunted Hustle to Gulf Place Town Green & Public Beach, located at 101 Gulf Shores Parkway. Locals and visitors are invited to wear their best Halloween costumes and participate in this horrifyingly fun event, featuring a 5K walk/run, fun run, Witches on Wheels bike parade, and a live DJ on stage. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Dolphin Foundation for Education and Arts, who will also be selling beer/wine and refreshments on-site.
Haunted Hustle 5K Walk/Run
The Haunted Hustle 5K will begin promptly at 7:10 p.m. Ghosts and monsters of all sorts are invited to enjoy an evening run on our USATF certified course (AL18053JE). The 5K course will begin and end in front of Gulf Place Town Green. The cost to compete in the Haunted Hustle 5K is $30 before October 1 (early registration), $35 thru October 20, and $40 on race day. All registered participants will receive a goodie bag, water bottle, towel, and event shirt. Preferred shirt size is guaranteed if registered by October 1.
Witches on Wheels Bike Parade
The Witches on Wheels bicycle ride begins at 6 p.m. to kick off the evening. Witches and Warlocks are invited to jump on their brooms (bicycles will suffice) and parade around the Town Green throwing beads and candy to bystanders. Approximate distance is 2 miles. The cost to parade in the wicked Witches on Wheels Ride is $25 before October 1 (early registration), $30 thru October 20, and $35 on race day. All registered participants will receive a goodie bag, water bottle, towel, and event shirt. Preferred shirt size is guaranteed if registered by October 1.
The Fun Run will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. Non-competitive goblins can enjoy this fun out-and-back route that is approximately 1 mile. The cost to join in the frighteningly Fun Run is $25 before October 1 (early registration), $30 thru October 20, and $35 on race day. All registered participants will receive a spooktacular finishers medal, goodie bag, water bottle, towel, and event shirt. Preferred shirt size is guaranteed if registered by October 1.
Early Packet Pick-up Opportunities:
Bodenhamer Recreation Center: All day on Tuesday 10/17, 8am-4pm on Wednesday 10/18, 8am-4pm on Thursday 10/19, 8am-4pm on Friday 10/20. The Bodenhamer Recreation Center is located at 310 West 19th Ave, Gulf Shores, AL 36542.
Big Beach Brewing Company: 5pm-7pm on Wednesday 10/18. 5pm-8pm on Thursday 10/19. 5pm-8pm on Friday 10/20. Big Beach Brewery, located at 300 E 24th Ave Gulf Shores AL 36542.
On-site Packet Pick-up will be available on the Town Green from 4pm to 6:30pm on race day.
Fun Run: The Fun Run is not a timed event. All who finish the Fun Run will receive a Haunted Hustle medal.
5K Walkers: Awards will be given to the top 3 overall fastest Male and Female walkers. This is a chip timed event. No running or jogging is allowed if registering for the 5K as a walker.
5K Run: Awards will be given to the top 3 fastest Male and Female runners in each age group. This is a chip timed event. Age groups are: 14 and under,15-19,20-24,25-29,30-34,35-39,40-44,45-49,50-54,55-59,60-64,65-69,70-74, 75+. Fastest Male and Female prizes will be given to: Master, Grand-Master, Senior Grand Master. Master is age 40-49, Grand Master is age 50-59, Senior Grand Master is age 60+.
Awards: You may be eligible for only one award. Masters, Grand Masters, and Senior Grand-Masters will be listed in their respective age group until the winners of the age group categories are determined. At that time all Top Masters will be removed from their age group standings. The remaining runners in those age groups will all move up one spot in the standings.
Entry fees are non-refundable and cannot be transferred. In the event the race should be canceled for any reason, refunds will not be made but race good bags and t-shirts will be available at a location to be determined. Information will be on the race website. Proceeds will benefit the Dolphin Foundation for Education and Arts. By registering for this race, you are agreeing to this policy.
Weather forecasts will be monitored prior to the event, with special attention placed on lightning, heavy rain, and high winds. Announcements on weather will be made on the Recreation Division Facebook page @GulfShoresRec. Visible lightning will cause the race to be postponed in increments of 30 minutes. If it is felt that it is unsafe for participants, the race may be canceled. The event does NOT get canceled due to rain only.
