Gulf State Park Proposed Land Exchange

The proposed land exchange consists of the transfer of 30.19 acres of undeveloped land from the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ (ADCNR) Gulf State Park to the City of Gulf Shores. In exchange, the City of Gulf Shores (City) would transfer 53.71 acres of undeveloped land to the ADCNR’s Gulf State Park. The proposed action is solely an exchange of property between the City of Gulf Shores and the ADCNR and will not involve any construction activities or other physical impacts. The land transferred to the City could accommodate potential future infrastructure improvements. The exchange of land is required to satisfy Section 6(f) of the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) regulations (Section 6, Land and Water Conservation Fund Act of 1965, as amended: Public Law 88-578; 16 U.S.C 4601-4 et. seq, Section 1.4. Section 6(f) is applicable to this proposed land exchange because Gulf State Park has received LWCF funding for various improvements to the park. The areas involved in the land exchange contain no improvements and are currently undeveloped.
