February 18, 2021, 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM @ Erie H. Meyer Civic Center
On behalf of NOAA, the City of Gulf Shores will host a Public Workshop Meeting on February 18, 2021 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Erie H. Meyer Civic Center for the NOAA Marsh Restoration Project. Due to concerns associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, the meeting will also be hosted online by the City of Gulf Shores. The purpose of the meeting is to provide the public an opportunity to participate in the development of the proposed project. A brief presentation will be given at 4:30 PM. After the presentation, representatives from NOAA will be available online to discuss the proposed project and answer any questions.
The purpose of the project is to improve surface water flow under Waterway West Boulevard by installing a new larger box culvert under the road between County Road 6 and Gulf Shores Parkway. The need for the project is due to flooding/water impoundment issues that impact the adjacent marsh ecosystems. Funding for this project has been provided through the RESTORE Act.
