Tween and Teen Programs

It’s that time of year again: the 21st Annual Pleasure Island Poetry Contest! In celebration of National Poetry Month, we are holding a poetry contest generously sponsored by The Friends of the Orange Beach and Thomas B. Norton Public Library.

Students in grades K-12 may submit up to 3 poems by Friday, April 17th, for a chance to win cash prizes. Prizes will be awarded on individual merit and grade level. Poems are judged on the following criteria:

  1.  Creative use of language.
  2.  Appeal to senses.
  3.  Theme development.

All poems must be submitted on or before Friday, April 17th, 2026, by 6 pm. Poems should be typed or printed on standard printer paper and must have an entry form attached.

Entries can be returned to your library in person or by mail.
