Parking Study Approved for Waterway Village
City Council approved the proposal to conduct a parking study for the Waterway Village Overlay District, based on a recommendation from the Planning and Zoning Department. The approved contract will not exceed $72,625 and involves consulting firm Kimley-Horn to assess current parking conditions, project future needs, and provide actionable recommendations for the district.
The study is anticipated to span five to six months, analyzing parking inventory, occupancy rates, turnover, traffic patterns, pedestrian and bicycle connectivity, and ADA compliance. Key stakeholders, residents, and business owners will be invited to participate via surveys, steering committee meetings, and public forums.
The goal is to develop a strategic plan that will support Waterway Village’s growth as a commercial and community hub. Recommendations could include shared parking agreements, signage enhancements, and alternative transportation options. City staff emphasized that public and business engagement will be critical throughout the study. More information on those opportunities will be provided as they become available.
