Background and Community Impact

This move follows Jacobs Engineering’s recent analysis of traffic in the Gulf Pines area and the completion of the Pedestrian Bridge project. The city worked closely with police, public works, Gulf Shores City Schools and other partners to ensure the newly designated golf cart routes provide safe travel options and connect neighborhoods with Meyer Park, school facilities and the Gulf Coast Center for Ecotourism & Sustainability.

The expanded golf cart network is intended to make it easier for families, students, and visitors to move around the area without relying solely on traditional vehicles.

Mayor Robert Craft stated, “Our residents have expressed a strong interest in having more golf cart access in our neighborhoods, and this initiative is a direct response to that feedback. Expanding these routes is an important step toward enhancing connectivity and providing additional transportation options beyond traditional vehicles. We are committed to making Gulf Shores a more accessible and connected community for everyone.”
