The City of Gulf Shores is continuing to make strong progress on the construction of its new Justice Center, a major project that will bring the Police Department, Jail, and Municipal Courts together in one modern, centralized facility. This initiative will significantly enhance the capabilities of our public safety services and better serve the needs of our growing community.
Location: The Justice Center is being constructed at the site of the former Sacred Heart Medical Office Building on Medical Village Boulevard.
Project Overview: Once complete, the facility will provide updated infrastructure and improved efficiency for law enforcement and judicial operations, all under one roof.
Construction Timeline: The project is on track for completion in summer 2026.
Current Progress (as of October 2025):
- Sitework
Site preparation is about halfway complete. Most of the earthwork and underground utility installation is finished, while work on parking areas and lighting has begun. Landscaping has not yet started. - Vehicle Storage Building (VSB)
This structure is progressing well. The foundation and steel framework are complete, and the exterior walls and roof are nearly finished. Interior work is underway. - Main Building Renovation
Renovation of the main building is at a steady midpoint. Most of the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems are in place. Roofing is nearly complete, and interior framing and drywall installation are actively progressing. - Detention Facility (Jail)
Work on the jail is in the early stages. The foundation is complete, and structural steel is mostly in place. The floor slab has not yet been poured, and exterior and interior construction has not yet begun.
