Construction on the City of Gulf Shores Pedestrian Bridge is moving forward on schedule, with visible progress taking shape on both the north and south sides of the project.
Crews have poured the foundations for both the main bridge and the elevator/stair towers. Work on the elevator/stair tower is advancing steadily: the first two vertical concrete pours are complete, and forms are now being set for the third pour.
All pilings for the bridge foundation are in place, and only a single piling remains for the elevator/stair tower. Installation of the pile caps—forming the foundation for both the bridge and the elevator/stair towers—is expected to begin later this month.
Parking & Streetscape Improvements
South Side (Between 23rd & 24th Avenue):
Both utility and storm drain installation are finished, and rough grading for the new roadway segment is done. Crews have begun forming the new curbs, with the first concrete pour scheduled for next week. Expect to see ongoing curbing and concrete work throughout December.
North Side (Between 25th Avenue & Waterway East):
Utility and storm drain work is complete. Construction activity will shift back to the north once progress on the south side allows.
The project remains on track for timely completion. We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation as construction continues to improve pedestrian safety and mobility in Gulf Shores.
