East 2nd Street has been paved and reopened up to the site of the future Waterway Village Pedestrian Plazas at East 24th Avenue as crews remain hard at work on the overall project.

As a reminder, this work is setting the stage for the vibrant public spaces at the north and south landings of our new pedestrian bridge. Funded by a $3.6 million GOMESA grant, these plazas will eventually feature:
• Shade trees, seating, and viewing spots.
• Public restrooms and event spaces.
• Safe, dedicated bicycle and pedestrian access across the Intracoastal Waterway.
