Joe Garris has been a dedicated member of the Gulf Shores community since 1960, when his family relocated to the area from Mobile. In 1976, Joe established his charter boat business, which he successfully ran for nearly five decades before retiring. His strong ties to the coast and its residents motivated him to serve on the City Council, where he is committed to helping residents address challenges and enhance their quality of life.
Joe chairs the Recreation Committee, serves on the Airport Authority, and collaborates closely with the police and fire departments to ensure they have the necessary resources to serve the community. He is especially focused on completing the airport terminal expansion to accommodate more commercial flights.
What Joe loves most about Gulf Shores is the abundance of outdoor activities—from fishing and shrimping to waterskiing and wildlife watching—that make the area truly special.
