[ARCHIVED] Bodenhamer Recreation Center Pool Closed for Repairs Beginning April 28

Pool Closure - no date

We will conduct emergency pool repairs at the Bodenhamer Recreation Center beginning Friday, April 28, through early May. The projected completion date for this project is May 7. However, this is an estimated completion date only and is subject to change.

Repairs include fixing cracks and damaged plaster areas separating from the subsurface gunite in the entire shallow end and lane 6. To complete these repairs, the pool will be drained, and a contractor will chip out all plaster in the affected areas, remove debris, apply new plaster, and cure the plaster. Once complete, the pool will be refilled and chemically balanced for reopening.

While the renovation will cause the short-term closure of the Aquatics Center, the fitness center, gymnasium, and all other facility areas will remain open and continue to operate as usual. During the closure, all members can access the Orange Beach Aquatics Center (4853 Wilson Blvd.), at no cost, as an alternate place to swim. The Orange Beach Aquatics Center has water aerobics Monday through Friday, 10:30-11:30 a.m. We ask all patrons who plan to use the Orange Beach pool to call ahead (251-974-7946) to confirm lane availability. For more information on the Orange Beach Aquatics Center, visit https://www.orangebeachal.gov/224/Aquatics-Center

We truly appreciate your patience and cooperation while we work on these repairs. We are committed to providing a beautiful, safe, and well-maintained facility. We will update the public on our progress and official reopening date via social media and the City's website, www.gulfshoresAL.gov.
