1. How do I visit an inmate in the Detention Facility?

Inmates are allowed visitation on Wednesdays ONLY from 9am-10am and 7pm-8pm, and also on Christmas Day and Thanksgiving Day no matter what day of the week it falls on. Inmates are allowed up to 4 visitors at the inmates request.

3. What items am I allowed to bring to an inmate?

Inmates are allowed WHITE socks, shirts, and underwear. They are also allowed paperback books or magazines. All hygiene items are provided by the detention center.

5. Can inmates purchase items from a commissary?

Currently, the Gulf Shores Detention Center does not have a commissary.

6. Can an inmate release personal property from the Detention Center?

Property can be released from the Detention Center at the request of the inmate.

7. How do I find out court information for an inmate?

For court information, you can contact the court at 251-968-6780 during normal business hours.

8. When can a bond be paid for an inmate?

Bond can be posted 24 hours a day.

9. Can I pay cash for an inmate's fines?

Cash can only be paid to the court during normal business hours only. Any other time requires the use of a money order.

10. Who do I make a money order out to?

Money orders shall be made out to “City of Gulf Shores”.
